Training takes place 3 days per week and should be supplemented with additional training on your own dependent upon individual running goals. New group members will have an opportunity to discuss running history and goals with a coach to help determine how much volume and intensity to include in their running program.
Mondays – Strength Training for Runners
Strength training for runners is cardio intensive body weight circuit training that focuses on strengthening the muscle groups must important to distance runners. Movements will challenge balance, core strength and muscular endurance. These movements are essential for any runner that wants to make it to the finish line without injury.
Wednesdays – Interval Training
Interval training is an important key to becoming a faster runner. Interval training is characterized by intense efforts followed by recovery time. The benefits of running above your redline are many including improved VO2 Max, increased lactate threshold, and yes, an excellent way to encourage your body to burn body fat.
Fridays – Hill Repeats or Tempo
Tempo Runs are sometimes known as Lactate Threshold (LT) runs. This is because these runs are done at a pace slightly above the pace in which your body produces lactic acid faster than it is able to clear the lactic acid. Tempo pace can be described as comfortably challenging. Training at this pace is intended to push that threshold higher so your body is able to run fast longer before fatiguing.
Why train with a group/team?
Group training challenges all runners to run harder, further, and with more smiles. As a team, you can share the laughs, struggles, exhilaration, and challenges that come with distance running. Whether you are a beginner or elite. Training with a team will challenge you and hold you accountable for reaching your goals.
How far do I need to be able to run?
If you are able to run/walk 3 miles you are ready to get started.
If you run more than that continuously and regularly this group training will push you further.
How fast do I need to be able to run?
Training will be divided into pace groups so whether you a front runner or bringing up the rear, there is a place for you. More important than pace is that each runner is giving 100% effort.
How many days per week should I train?
Our training programs are designed such that in an ideal world, runners participate in team runs 3days/week and supplement with long runs and easy runs in accordance with their individual running goals. We understand that our training schedule may conflict with other things happening, but for best results, we suggest you attend as often as possible.
How much is Run Naturally Team Training?
The first training is free. After that team membership is $100 per month.
What if I am injured or otherwise unable to participate?
If you are injured you should discuss your injury with the coaches to discuss the best way to bounce back and avoid future injury.
If you are no longer interested in participating in group training you may cancel your team membership at any time.
